Outreach

Outreach

As we have received God’s love, so we offer it to others.

FOOD CUPBOARD

Every Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon, the Food Cupboard is open to support families in the neighbourhood.  Due to the volume of clients needing food, your donations for funds or of non-perishable food are very welcome.

OUTREACH FUNDRAISING

St Hilary’s supports a number of local, national and international agencies that accomplish work which we could never do ourselves. There are a number of events and activities throughout the year dedicated to raising the money to allow this support to happen every year. Our Outreach fundraising efforts help support the following agencies:

  • Through local agencies:
    • Our Place Peel
    • Interval House
    • The DAM
    • Hospice of Peel
    • L.O.F.T.
    • Scott Mission
  • Through International Agencies:
    • Doctor’s Without Borders
    • Amnesty International
    • Stephen Lewis Foundation
    • World Vision
    • Sleeping Children Around the World
    • A.M.R.E.F.
    • Leprosy Mission

MILK BAG BEDS

Members of the Craft Group have made mats beds out of coloured plastic milk bags and sent them to a number of different countries affected by natural disasters or other calamities. Thank you for bringing in thousands of milk bags to make these bed mats that are collected and distributed worldwide by a Canadian organization called Milk Bags Unlimited.

BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES

In August we hold a drive to collect backpacks for children staying at Peel Family Shelter; and a drive for school supplies which will be shipped to school children in Ghana through Br Leonard at the Order of the Holy Cross.

FAITHWORKS

FaithWorks is the outreach arm for the Diocese of Toronto and partners with 16 different agencies across the diocese and Canada to accomplish some great work that we are unable to accomplish ourselves.  We support and uphold the ministries of FaithWorks, and particularly we invite people to support FaithWorks through regular envelope contributions or via PAR.

We also seek to find ways to partner with the work of The DAM — an after-school youth drop in centre located in Cooksville, which is one of the FaithWorks partners.

COMMUNITY GROUPS

Four AA groups and 1 NA group currently meet at St Hilary’s in the evenings.
